Your home is unique, and so are your backup power needs. Your home’s size, property layout, the position of your service panel, and your local building codes all impact the installation of your generator. In addition, if your home does not currently have natural gas or liquid propane service, you will need to have natural gas service or a liquid propane tank installed on your property. These are not included in the cost of installation quoted by your dealer.

First, know that we handle it all for you, including all necessary permits. It’s a technical process that requires professionals and specialists to ensure it’s installed correctly and safely.

Here are a few reasons KOHLER generators are a step above:

1. During your free estimate, your KOHLER authorized dealer will discuss the ideal placement for your generator and automatic transfer switch. For safety reasons, a standby generator must be installed on a flat, level surface at least 5 feet from windows and doors and at least 18 inches from your home.
2. The electrician will install your automatic transfer switch. This switch automatically transfers power from the utility to your generator.
3. After that’s installed, the team will move your generator in place.
4. Electric lines will then be connected from your transfer switch to your generator.
5. Once electric is hooked up, your pipefitter will make the proper connections from the fuel source to the generator.
6. After electric and fuel are hooked up, your generator is ready to start up and protect your home.
Most standby generator installations take just a day or two, and your KOHLER Authorized Dealer will take care of everything. They’ll secure all necessary permits and coordinate a team of licensed electricians and pipefitters to make sure the job’s done right.

How much does installation cost?

The cost of installation is not included in the MSRP of your generator. During your consultation, your KOHLER Authorized Dealer will give you an installation cost estimate.

The cost of generator installation varies significantly from home to home based on your home’s current setup. A simple installation starts at $2,000, although costs may be substantially more based on your situation. Factors that impact the cost of installation include:
